Abstract
Design Commune is a growing startup that began its journey in 2021 as an architecture firm but quickly expanded into a design consultancy firm with expertise at interior and website design. The internship program allowed me to assist daily human resource activities as well as in general operations. This hands-on experience helped me gain a solid foundation for professional growth in human resource management. I was also opportune to be part of the digital marketing team and learned how to keep up with trends and reach a global audience. The second chapter of the report provides a thorough analysis of the firm, showcasing how management and marketing practices are put into action as well as day-to-day operations. A SWOT analysis of the firm was also conducted to identify its strengths and weaknesses as well as threats and opportunities. Lastly, the third chapter of the reports includes how key human resources practices such as recruiting and selection, managing employee engagement, conducting performance management and calculating as well as providing compensation & benefits etc. are implemented at the firm. I had arranged a questionnaire to gather anonymous feedback on how these practices affect the workforce to identify if these practices have any rooms to be improved. From the questionnaire and my analysis of the firm, I provided some actionable recommendations to minimize the inefficiencies of the human resource activities at Design Commune.
