The goal of the study is to investigate Bangladeshi tertiary level students' common errors in academic writing. It will also reveal the writing problems through error analysis in students' academic essay writing. In this paper, error analysis includes identification, classification, and systematic interpretation of the errors which are produced by the ESL/EFL learners. I have focused on the tertiary level students from different private universities of Bangladesh. My research says that making repetitive and common errors in academic writing is a very regular phenomenon. But in this stage of learning, incorporation of errors in students' academic writing is completely undesirable. My research helped me in finding out the reasons hidden behind their mistakes. The questionnaire part in my research would reveal both the perspectives of teachers and students regarding this issue. My research will help out the teachers in figuring out why and how the errors are occurred and can be resolved. This study wants to accompany the teachers while designing syllabus and material as per the students' need. On the other hand this study can work as need analysis for the students as well. This study tends to find out some effective and necessary solution of this problem, so that both the teachers and the students can be benefited to achieve their goal regarding writing skill development consecutively.en_US
