Abstract
This report investigates the implementation and impact of the Competency Management System (CMS) in LEADS Corporation Ltd. The objective was to assess how CMS can connect employees' competencies with organisational strategies to enhance operational efficiency, talent management, and employee retention. A qualitative methodology was executed, including meetings with stakeholders, conducting thematic analysis, organising employee interviews, and on-site observations during the CMS rollout.
The implementation of CMS also faced considerable challenges, such as integration between departments, diverse communication channels between teams, time constraints, unfamiliarity with the software, and inadequate time to properly assess the long-term impact of CMS. However, these were alleviated through cross-functional management, effective leadership, and improved investment in competency training. This report recommends real-time notification systems, validation by supervisors, and proper documentation to improve productivity further.
CMS also demonstrated its potential to ameliorate strategic HR planning and sustain top talent within the IT industry and beyond. Active engagement in data collection, coordinating interviews, and facilitating training further enabled the practical application of academic HR concepts in a real-world setting.
